My way of celebrating THE DAY

I woke up today by hearing the song, "Jaha daal daal pr sone ki chidiya krti hai basera, wo Bharat desh hai merra..." I felt so positive, so patriotic and so proud that I am citizen of this Bharat. ๐Ÿ™‚
within a moment, I was delving deep into my childhood memories, which consists of reading all great things about our country. The VishwaGuru, the Golden bird, the most tolerant place, the peace loving place and what not. School syllabus was filled with description of such personalities who heralded world peace; starting from Mahatma Buddha to Mahatma Gandhi and many more. Bollywood songs broadcasted on VividhBharti were fully jingoistic and still they are. I am pretty sure, everyone feels that way when it comes to the nation. Such songs are nothing but embodiment of our feelings.
School days were quite interesting. We used to deliver speeches and conduct cultural events after flag hoisting followed by sweet (Jalebi and Laddoo) distribution. My Republic day is still incomplete without Jalebi and Laddoo. ๐Ÿ˜„
Later on, I did the same thing which I do every year on this day i.e. watching Republic Day Parade. I have been part of this Parade in the year 2010 as NSS Cadate. That one month of rigorous training and witnessing the glory of nation from that close is indeed the life changing moment for me. I could never part myself from that moment of saluting the very first female President of the nation and saluting the India Gate. So, whatever I do, that moment lives under me. How amazing is that. ๐Ÿ˜„

Republic Day 2010

Republic Day is celebrated on 26th of January because of the fact that it is the day when the Constitution of India came into effect. In earlier times, "Purna Swaraj" was proclaimed on this very day as well.
It is the day when our country officially became a Republic, where head of the nation is elected. It is the day when we adopted democracy as a way of our lives. It is the day, which gives me freedom to write this blog.
In nutshell, we have all the reasons to celebrate this day and we should keep the warmth of this day alive throughout the year. This great occasion does not deserve to be confined to celebration of some limited period only. Celebration here means, keeping the values of democracy alive within oneself and abiding by those values. While availing our fundamental rights, we should never ignore our fundamental duties provided by the same Constitution.
may the vibes of democracy live withing us.
Happy Republic Day.

Greeting- Cards, Rhymes, Sweetness and me #Daily Diary

"เคšเคฒा เคœा เค—्เคฐीเคŸिंเค— เคšเคฎเค•เคคे เคšเคฎเค•เคคे
 เคฎेเคฐी เคธเคนेเคฒी เค•ो เค•เคนเคจा เคจเคฎเคธ्เคคे เคจเคฎเคธ्เคคे"
This is the message I received from one of my friends on WhatsApp four days ago. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ He probably had sent this as a matter of fun and it literally made me LOL. Then it reminded me of days when we used to do such things. Being a 90s kid, I have experienced the Greeting- Card era. Born in the age of landline phones, we had no convenience of sending a SMS or a WhatsApp Message. We had no easy access to Internet and sending greetings on email was rather a luxurious thing. Basically, expression of love & affection towards each other was not a matter of mere 'CLICK'. It used to take an effort of saving our pocket money, going to shops either to purchase ready-made Greeting- Cards or to purchase raw material to create a handmade Greeting- Card. We had an option to show more creativity by writing poetry or rhymes. The message I received from my friend, which made me write this post is that kind of rhyme. I remember the first New Year Greeting Card I had received when I was in second standard. Although it was a ready made card, she had shown her love by drawing a candle on the middle page. She also had written a rhyme:-
"ONE GLASS WATER, ONE GLASS BEER,
OH MY DEAR, HAPPY NEW YEAR... " ๐Ÿ˜‚
I have no idea, it was her original or she had copied it from somewhere else, it was exhilarating ๐Ÿ˜ and I must salute the creator of this rhyme. Hats off to all the creators of such rhymes, which are inseparable part of our childhood memories, and which used to make us feel special and which also used to awake our competitive- self by compelling us to think, "I would write a better poetry than this". ๐Ÿ˜… Nevertheless, receiving such cards with poetry written over it was considered as recognition of our individuality. At least, I felt it that way.
Gradually, we were introduced to technology. New options of wishing each other were made easily available. I neither miss the old times nor regret the changes; memories of Greeting- Cards and unique rhymes simply spread sweetness around me. I always smile whenever I think of that. So, thank you Mr. Friend for sending me that message on WhatsApp and thank you all my friends for giving me any Card ever.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2020
may our lives be filled with sweetness & love...
